Cellcept 500mg Capsule is an immunosuppressant containing Mycophenolate mofetil as its active ingredient. It falls into the category of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitors. This medication is specifically used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone organ transplantation, such as a kidney, heart, or liver transplant. It is always prescribed as part of a combination therapy alongside other immunosuppressive drugs.
This medication is contraindicated during pregnancy due to a significant risk of birth defects and miscarriage. It should only be considered for pregnant women if there are no suitable alternative treatments and the potential benefits clearly outweigh the substantial risks. Women of childbearing potential are strongly advised to use effective contraception throughout the duration of treatment with this capsule to prevent pregnancy. Additionally, live vaccines should not be administered to individuals taking Cellcept 500mg Capsule, as it can reduce vaccine effectiveness and increase the risk of infection. Furthermore, individuals on this medication should not donate blood during treatment and for at least six weeks after stopping it, ensuring the drug has been adequately cleared from their system.
It is generally not advised to take this medicine if you are allergic to Mycophenolate mofetil or any other ingredients. You must inform your doctor if you have any history of liver or heart disease before starting treatment. As Cellcept 500mg Capsule reduces the body’s immune defenses, it can increase the risk of skin cancer. Therefore, individuals must take precautions to limit their exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light by wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any concerning symptoms after taking this medicine, such as bruising under the skin, fever, unexplained tiredness, dizziness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, vision impairment, reduced urine output, or seizures. Cellcept 500mg Capsule is an immunosuppressive medication and should be avoided during breastfeeding as it may negatively affect the infant’s developing immune system. In certain situations, alternative medications with a more favorable safety profile for breastfeeding mothers may be considered.
