Letroz 2.5mg Tablet is an important anti-cancer drug that belongs to the class of medicines known as aromatase inhibitors. Its active ingredient is Letrozole. It is specifically indicated as a supportive therapy after the main treatment or as a first-line therapy for postmenopausal women who have been diagnosed with early and advanced breast cancer, particularly when their tumors are hormone receptor-positive. Since high amounts of estrogen are found to trigger breast cancer, this medicine effectively reduces the levels of this female reproductive hormone by precisely blocking the enzyme (aromatase) that is directly involved in the production of estrogen. The primary aim of this medicine is to slow or completely stop the growth of cancerous cells and/or prevent their spreading to other parts of the body.

It is crucial to inform your physician if you have not yet attained menopause, as this medicine is specifically designed for postmenopausal women and does not work for premenopausal women. Since this medicine has a tendency to significantly reduce the levels of female reproductive hormones, it is not advised for menstruating women because its use is related to causing potential fertility issues. It is highly advised to keep track of your cholesterol levels regularly, as this medicine tends to elevate cholesterol levels. This medicine could also potentially decrease bone mineral density. Therefore, you should discuss with your physician and consider monitoring your bone parameters regularly. Furthermore, it is strongly advised to use effective birth control during the entire treatment and for at least 3 weeks after the last dose, as Letroz 2.5mg Tablet can potentially cause harm to an unborn baby when it is administered.
