MENOGUARD TABLET is classified as an ‘Antihemorrhagic agent’ and is utilized for the treatment of menorrhagia. Menorrhagia refers to a condition marked by excessive or extended bleeding during menstrual cycles. You may be diagnosed with menorrhagia if the bleeding is so heavy that it interferes with your daily life, requiring you to change one or more sanitary pads or tampons every hour for several hours in a row, bleeding lasts longer than a week, and you experience symptoms like fatigue, weakness, a pale complexion, and shortness of breath. Additionally, it is employed to manage postoperative hemorrhage (excessive bleeding following surgery) and local fibrinolysis (abnormal breakdown of blood clots).
MENOGUARD TABLET consists of a combination of two active ingredients: Tranexamic acid and Etamsylate. Tranexamic acid is categorized as an ‘anti-fibrinolytic agent’ that functions by controlling the dissolution of blood clots. It inhibits the release and function of plasmin, an enzyme crucial for the breakdown of blood clots. Etamsylate acts as a hemostatic agent (which prevents bleeding). It enhances the capacity of platelets to adhere to one another (platelet adhesion) and form clots. Furthermore, it suppresses the action of chemical agents that lead to the disintegration of platelets. These mechanisms contribute to the reduction of abnormal bleeding.
It is important to take this medication exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. MENOGUARD TABLET may lead to side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, chills, rashes, severe headaches, back or joint discomfort, muscle aches, difficulty in movement, and nasal congestion. Typically, these side effects resolve on their own without requiring treatment. However, if you experience any serious side effects, such as vision issues while taking MENOGUARD TABLET, seek medical advice promptly.
Avoid using MENOGUARD TABLET if you have a known allergy to Tranexamic acid, Etamsylate, or any other components contained in the medication. Additionally, do not use this medicine if you have a history of kidney failure, thrombosis (the formation of blood clots within blood vessels), or disseminated intravascular coagulation (a condition where blood clots form throughout the body).
