Ifex-M 1gm injection is a drug used for cancer treatment and cytoprotection, classified as an alkylating agent and a hemorrhagic cystitis inhibitor, containing Ifosfamide and Mesna as its active ingredients. These medications are prescribed for managing bladder inflammation and cancers affecting soft tissues, germ cells, pancreas, and cervix. Mesna primarily serves to mitigate some adverse effects associated with specific chemotherapy drugs.
This medication should not be administered if you have experienced an allergic reaction to it or any of its components. It may lead to significant bone marrow suppression, resulting in decreased white blood cell or platelet counts due to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. If you have received a live virus vaccine, such as for measles, mumps, rubella, or chickenpox, you should wait three months before beginning treatment with this drug. Caution is advised when using this medication in individuals with severe kidney or liver disease. Consult your doctor if you are taking any other medications or before using over-the-counter drugs or herbal supplements. Your physician will assess the potential for interactions with this medication.
Before using this medication, consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive. Ifex-M 1gm injection is not safe during pregnancy as it can harm an unborn child. Your healthcare provider will perform a pregnancy test prior to initiating treatment with this drug. Discuss effective birth control methods with your doctor and use them for at least two weeks after your last dose. Breastfeeding should be avoided while undergoing treatment with this drug, as it may be excreted in small amounts in breast milk.
