Imatero 400mg tablet contains imatinib as its active ingredient. This antineoplastic medication is classified as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is prescribed for the treatment of both adults and children suffering from chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), a type of leukemia characterized by the uncontrolled growth of certain abnormal white blood cells. Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph-positive ALL). Furthermore, it is utilized in the management of specific gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), which are tumors that develop in the walls of the digestive tract and may metastasize to other areas of the body.
Imatero 400mg tablet is also effective in treating myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD), a category of blood disorders where some blood cells proliferate uncontrollably. It is also used for hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL), conditions where eosinophils, a type of blood cell, grow excessively. This medication is also indicated for dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), a cancer affecting the tissue beneath the skin characterized by abnormal cell growth. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the proliferation of these abnormal blood cells.
Do not use Imatero 400mg tablet if you have a known allergy to imatinib or any of the other components of this medication. Prior to starting treatment, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider if you have any kidney, heart, or liver issues, if you have thyroid disorders, or if your thyroid gland has been surgically removed. Additionally, notify your doctor if you have a history of hepatitis B infection, as this medication may reactivate the virus. Be sure to report any signs of bruising, bleeding, fever, fatigue, or confusion.
