Thalitero-50 Capsule is indicated for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Additionally, it is utilized to manage and prevent the symptoms of erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL) and serves as maintenance therapy to prevent and suppress the recurrence of ENL. Multiple myeloma is a form of cancer that impacts plasma cells, a type of white blood cell. ENL is an inflammatory complication of leprosy that is mediated by the immune system.

The active ingredient in Thalitero-50 Capsule is ‘Thalidomide’, which enhances the body’s immune response and directly targets cancer cells. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells, prevents the formation of blood vessels that nourish tumors, and activates the immune system to attack cancer cells. Thus, Thalitero-50 Capsule is effective in treating multiple myeloma.

It is important to take Thalitero-50 Capsule for the duration prescribed by your healthcare provider, based on your medical condition. Some individuals may experience common side effects, including constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, tremors, dysaesthesia (abnormal sensations), low blood cell counts, nausea, vomiting, and swelling in the hands and feet. If you notice any of these side effects persistently, consult your doctor.

Thalitero-50 Capsule should not be taken during pregnancy due to the risk of severe birth defects or fetal death. It is also advised to avoid this medication while breastfeeding. Be aware that Thalitero-50 Capsule may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision; therefore, only drive if you feel fully alert. This medication is not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been established in this population. Additionally, refrain from consuming alcohol while taking Thalitero-50 Capsule, as it may exacerbate dizziness.
