Calutide-50 Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer refers to cancer of the prostate gland, a small gland located beneath the bladder that produces semen, and it occurs exclusively in men. Symptoms may include difficulties with urination, pain, numbness, or sexual dysfunction.
Calutide-50 Tablet contains Bicalutamide, which functions by blocking the effects of androgens (male hormones) like testosterone that promote the growth of prostate cancer cells. It prevents testosterone from attaching to androgen receptors on prostate cancer cells, effectively starving these cells of testosterone. Consequently, this action inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells and ultimately reduces the size of the prostate tumor.
You should take Calutide-50 Tablet as directed by your physician, either with or without food, and swallow it whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. Your doctor will determine the frequency of your dosage based on your medical condition. Some individuals may experience side effects such as weakness, skin rashes, breast swelling and tenderness, nausea, dry skin, weight gain, hair loss, hot flashes (sudden warmth), anemia (low blood count), decreased libido, constipation, depression, indigestion, or dizziness. Most of these side effects associated with Calutide-50 Tablet do not necessitate medical intervention and typically resolve on their own over time.
