Cytomab 500mg injection contains the active ingredient Rituximab. It is utilized for various disease conditions in adults. This medication can be administered alone or in conjunction with other drugs to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (a cancer that affects white blood cells known as B-lymphocytes) and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (the most prevalent form of cancer affecting B-cells). Additionally, it is indicated for the treatment of moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis (a condition where the immune system attacks the body’s own joint cells) when used alongside methotrexate in adults. Other applications include treating granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis (inflammation of blood vessels primarily affecting the lungs and kidneys) in both adults and children aged 2 years and older. It is also prescribed for moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris (an autoimmune disorder that leads to painful blisters on the skin and mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, nose, and genitals).

Cytomab 500mg injection is classified as an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody. This injection should not be administered if you are allergic to rituximab or any other components of this medication, have a compromised immune system, or are experiencing any severe active infections. It is important to inform your physician if you have a history of heart disease, heart failure, or respiratory issues before starting treatment. Discuss with your doctor if you have previously had a hepatitis B infection, as there is a possibility of reactivation in some cases, which can be serious. The use of this injection is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Common side effects associated with Cytomab 500mg injection include blood infections, decreased red blood cell count, dizziness, facial and body swelling, itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and fluctuations in blood pressure. It is advised to use effective contraceptive methods during treatment and for 12 months following the last dose if there is a possibility of pregnancy. This medication may lead to severe infusion reactions during or within 24 hours post-administration. Notify your physician or healthcare provider if you experience any adverse effects.
