It is also prescribed for suspected fungal infections in patients presenting with fever and neutropenia (a reduced white blood cell count). Furthermore, it is indicated for the treatment of visceral leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease, in specific patient populations.
Before your initial treatment with Amphonex 50mg injection, your physician may administer a small test dose to check for any allergic reactions. Do not receive this injection if you are allergic to amphotericin B or any other ingredients in the medicine. It is crucial to inform your physician if you have a history of severe allergic reactions, kidney or liver problems, or if you are undergoing dialysis. Additionally, report if you have low potassium levels.
Given that this medicine contains sugar in each vial, inform your doctor if you have diabetes. It is also important to notify your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting treatment. Common side effects of Amphonex 50mg injection include skin rash, low potassium levels, diarrhea, anemia, insomnia, and shortness of breath. This medicine is not recommended for infants under one month of age.
