AntiD 150mcg/ml Injection is specifically indicated to prevent certain types of immune responses that can lead to complications rather than direct infections. Its primary function is to effectively prevent the formation of harmful antibodies within the bloodstream. This is particularly crucial after an individual with Rh-negative blood receives a transfusion containing Rh-positive blood, or most commonly, during pregnancy when an Rh-negative mother is carrying an Rh-positive baby.
This injection is widely utilized for Rh prophylaxis in various pregnancy-related complications, safeguarding both mother and baby. It is also officially approved for cases of incompatible transfusions in Rh-negative individuals who have unfortunately received blood components containing Rh-positive red blood cells (RBCs). Furthermore, AntiD 150mcg/ml Injection may also find use in treating immune thrombocytopenic purpura, which is a medical condition characterized by a significant decrease in the number of circulating platelets, consequently leading to easy bruising and bleeding.
Your doctor or a qualified nurse will personally administer this injection to you; it is imperative that you do not attempt to self-administer it. The injection is typically given into a muscle, and it is normally administered in the upper arm. For pregnant individuals who are Rh D negative, you will routinely be offered an anti-D injection around 28 weeks of pregnancy and then again within 72 hours of birth if your baby is determined to be Rh D positive.
This medicine is generally considered safe and does not commonly cause significant side effects. However, if you do experience any symptoms or reactions upon receiving the injection, it is important that you promptly inform your doctor. There may be effective ways of preventing or significantly reducing these symptoms.
Before receiving AntiD 150mcg/ml Injection, you should always tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing problems with blood clotting or if you have recently had, or are planning to have, any vaccination.
