Bdocterio 30mg injection contains octreotide, a synthetic derivative of somatostatin, a naturally occurring human substance that inhibits certain hormones, including growth hormone. It is used to reduce excessive growth hormone production in individuals with acromegaly, a condition characterized by enlarged hands, feet, and facial features, joint pain, and other symptoms, particularly when surgery, radiation, or other medications are not viable treatment options.
Furthermore, Bdocterio 30mg injection is utilized to manage diarrhea and flushing associated with carcinoid tumors (slow-growing tumors that release symptomatic natural substances) and vasoactive intestinal peptide-secreting adenomas (VIP-omas; pancreatic tumors that release symptomatic natural substances). It serves to prevent complications following pancreatic surgery and is indicated for stopping bleeding and preventing re-bleeding from ruptured gastro-esophageal varices in patients with chronic liver disease. This medication also treats pituitary tumors that overproduce thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) when other treatments (surgery or radiotherapy) are unsuitable or ineffective, and for interim management after radiotherapy until its full effects are realized.
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to octreotide or any other ingredients. Inform your physician if you have gallstones, high or low blood sugar levels, vitamin B12 deficiency, or liver diseases. Bdocterio 30mg injection can lower heart rate, and very high doses may cause abnormal heart rhythms; therefore, your doctor might regularly monitor your heart function during treatment. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting this treatment.
