Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection is classified as an antibiotic and is utilized for treating various bacterial infections affecting the urinary tract, respiratory tract, brain, bones and joints, ears, throat, skin, and soft tissue. A bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria proliferate within the body, leading to illness. These bacteria can invade any area of the body and reproduce rapidly. It is important to note that Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection is ineffective against viral infections.
This injection contains Ceftazidime, an antibiotic that functions by disrupting the construction of the bacterial cell wall, which is essential for their survival. This action results in damage to the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to the death of the bacteria.
Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection will be given by a healthcare professional; self-administration is not advised. Some individuals may experience redness and swelling around the injection site, as well as a red, raised skin rash that may be itchy, burning, painful, or inflamed, along with potential diarrhea. Most of these side effects associated with Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection do not necessitate medical intervention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if side effects persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
If you have a known allergy to Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection or any other medications, please inform your doctor. Additionally, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is crucial to notify your doctor prior to receiving Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection. Exercise caution when driving, as this medication may induce dizziness. If you are following a controlled sodium diet, inform your doctor before using Cefactiv 2.5 gm Injection. Should you develop a widespread rash accompanied by peeling skin and blisters, seek immediate medical attention, as these symptoms may indicate Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
