Denoclast 60mg Injection contains Denosumab, a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and binds to a protein called RANKL (Receptor Activator of Nuclear factor Kappa-Β Ligand). RANKL plays a critical role in the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts—the cells responsible for breaking down bone tissue. By neutralizing RANKL, Denoclast inhibits the development and activity of osteoclasts, leading to a reduction in bone resorption.
This mechanism helps increase bone mass and strength, especially in individuals with osteoporosis or metastatic bone disease. In conditions like bone metastases, where cancer spreads to the bones and causes significant bone destruction, Denoclast helps reduce skeletal-related complications such as fractures, spinal cord compression, and the need for bone surgery or radiation. In the case of giant cell tumors of the bone, Denosumab slows tumor growth by affecting the osteoclast-like giant cells involved in tumor progression.
The injection is usually given once every six months for osteoporosis, or more frequently depending on the condition being treated. Calcium and vitamin D supplementation is often recommended alongside to maintain healthy bone metabolism and prevent hypocalcemia (low blood calcium levels), a potential side effect of the drug.
