Encicarb 500 Injection contains ferric carboxymaltose, a type of iron replacement therapy used in the treatment of iron-deficiency anemia. It is typically prescribed to adult and pediatric patients who are unable to tolerate oral iron supplements or for whom those supplements have proven ineffective. It is also indicated for treating iron-deficiency anemia in adults with chronic kidney disease who are not undergoing dialysis. However, its use is not recommended for children under one year of age due to a lack of safety data in that age group.
You should avoid this injection if you are allergic to ferric carboxymaltose or any other ingredient in the formulation. It is also not suitable for individuals with anemia unrelated to iron deficiency, those with iron overload conditions (excess iron in the body), or patients with disorders that impair the body’s ability to properly utilize iron. Prior to initiating treatment, it is important to inform your physician if you have any pre-existing medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, severe asthma, eczema, active infections, liver dysfunction, or a history of low phosphate levels in the blood, as these conditions may affect how your body responds to the medication.
Administration of Encicarb should be done carefully, as incorrect delivery can cause irritation or prolonged discoloration at the injection site. Women who are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding should consult their doctor before receiving this medication. The most frequently reported side effects include nausea, an increase in blood pressure, skin flushing, local reactions at the injection site, dizziness, skin-related issues, and vomiting. If you have previously experienced severe allergic reactions to other injectable iron therapies, it is essential to share this information with your doctor to avoid potential complications
