Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet is an antiviral medication that falls under the class of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and contains the active ingredient Entecavir. It is prescribed for the management of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, a condition that arises when the body’s immune system fails to eliminate the virus from the liver within six months of the initial infection.
Before beginning treatment, it is essential to inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing skin conditions, or a history of anemia, seizures, liver disorders, or kidney issues. Your healthcare provider may recommend regular blood tests to monitor liver function and blood counts, as these are crucial to evaluate your response to the medication and to identify any potential side effects at an early stage. It is strongly advised to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment, as it can elevate the risk of liver damage. In rare cases, the medicine may cause lactic acidosis (a buildup of lactic acid in the blood), especially in obese women, which requires immediate medical attention if symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain occur.
Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before starting this medication. Entaliv 0.5mg Tablet should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor determines it is absolutely necessary. To prevent pregnancy during treatment, effective contraception is recommended. It is also best to avoid breastfeeding, as it is not known whether the medication passes into breast milk.
Do not take this tablet if you are allergic to Entecavir or any of the other ingredients in the formulation. Individuals living with HIV should practice preventive measures to reduce the risk of transmission. This includes avoiding unprotected sexual contact, not sharing personal items like razors or toothbrushes, and using barrier protection methods such as condoms. Speak with your doctor for personalized advice on how to prevent transmission and maintain safety during treatment
