Entavir 1mg Tablet is an antiviral medication from the class of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) and contains the active ingredient Entecavir. It is primarily used to manage chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, a condition in which the body’s immune system is unable to eliminate the virus from the liver within six months of the initial infection, leading to long-term liver damage if left untreated.

Before beginning treatment with Entavir 1mg Tablet, it is crucial to inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing medical conditions, including skin disorders, anemia, seizure history, or liver and kidney problems. Your doctor may recommend regular blood tests to monitor liver function and blood cell counts during the course of treatment. These assessments help ensure the medication is working effectively and allow early detection of any adverse effects.

Alcohol should be completely avoided during the treatment, as it may increase the risk of liver toxicity. One of the serious but rare side effects of this medication is lactic acidosis, a condition where lactic acid builds up in the blood. This risk is higher in obese women, and early symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain should be reported to your doctor immediately.

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before starting this medication. Entavir should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary and prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is also advised to use effective contraception during treatment to avoid unintended pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not recommended while using this medicine, as it is not known whether it passes into breast milk.

Do not take Entavir 1mg Tablet if you are allergic to Entecavir or any of its ingredients. Additionally, if you are living with HIV, it is essential to take steps to prevent the transmission of the virus. This includes practicing safe sex, using condoms, and avoiding the sharing of personal hygiene items like razors and toothbrushes. Speak to your doctor about comprehensive strategies to prevent the spread of HIV while on antiviral therapy.
