Gardasil injection contains the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine as its active constituent. It is designed to provide robust protection against infections and diseases caused by specific types of Human Papillomavirus, namely types 6, 11, 16, and 18.

These particular HPV types are implicated in a range of health issues. HPV types 6 and 11 are responsible for approximately 90% of genital wart cases in both males and females. Meanwhile, HPV types 16 and 18 are significant contributors, causing an estimated 70-80% of cervical and anal cancer cases, as well as pre-cancerous lesions in the female genital areas (cervix, vulva, and vagina) and anal regions.

The HPV virus is a very common sexually transmitted infection that, if not prevented, can lead to various serious health complications, including not only genital warts but also several types of cancer such as cervical, anal, penile, and throat cancer.

It is crucial to understand that Gardasil Injection does not cure existing HPV infections or the diseases they cause; rather, its purpose is purely preventive. It will not benefit individuals who are already infected with the virus strains it targets. The Gardasil vaccine is most effective when administered before an individual becomes sexually active, as it works by preparing the immune system to recognize and fight off HPV strains commonly transmitted through sexual contact.

The Gardasil vaccine is generally regarded as safe and highly effective, having demonstrated a significant reduction in the risk of HPV-related health problems in studies. There are no known interactions with other vaccines, meaning it can typically be administered alongside other routine immunizations. It is important to note that while the original Gardasil vaccine protects against four HPV types (6, 11, 16, and 18), the more broadly protecting Gardasil 9 vaccine is also available, which covers an additional five high-risk HPV types (31, 33, 45, 52, and 58), offering even wider protection against HPV-related cancers
