Imanib 400mg tablet contains imatinib as its active ingredient. This antineoplastic medication is classified as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is prescribed for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in both adults and children, a type of leukemia characterized by the uncontrolled growth of certain abnormal white blood cells. Additionally, it is indicated for Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph-positive ALL). Furthermore, it is utilized in the treatment of specific gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), which are tumors that develop in the walls of the digestive tract and may metastasize to other areas of the body.

Imanib 400mg tablet is also indicated for myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD), a category of blood disorders where some blood cells proliferate uncontrollably. It is effective in treating hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL), both of which involve the excessive growth of eosinophils, a type of white blood cell. This medication is also used for dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), a skin tissue cancer characterized by abnormal cell growth. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the proliferation of these abnormal blood cells.

Patients should avoid taking Imanib 400mg tablet if they have a known allergy to imatinib or any of its components. Prior to starting treatment, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider about any existing kidney, heart, or liver issues, as well as any thyroid conditions or if the thyroid gland has been surgically removed. It is also important to notify your doctor if you have a history of hepatitis B infection, as this medication may reactivate the virus. While on this medication, report any signs of bruising, bleeding, fever, fatigue, or confusion. Additionally, be aware that this medication may lead to fertility issues.
