Kabanat 60mg Injection contains cabazitaxel as its active ingredient. This anticancer medication is used in conjunction with steroid medications such as prednisone or prednisolone to treat individuals with hormone-refractory metastatic prostate cancer that has advanced after receiving other anticancer treatments, including docetaxel. Cancer is characterized by the abnormal and uncontrolled proliferation of cells. Many early-stage prostate cancers require normal testosterone (the male hormone) levels for growth. In cases of hormone-refractory metastatic prostate cancer, the cancer continues to grow even when testosterone levels in the body are significantly lowered. This medication should not be administered if you have severe liver dysfunction or have recently received a yellow fever vaccination.

The primary toxicities associated with this drug include myelosuppression, neurotoxicity, and allergic reactions. Neutropenia is the most frequently observed adverse effect of this medication. It is crucial to monitor complete blood counts weekly during the first treatment cycle and before each subsequent cycle to allow for dose adjustments if necessary. Patients receiving this medication should avoid live attenuated vaccines; however, killed or inactivated vaccines may be given.

Before using this medication, consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive. This drug is considered unsafe during pregnancy as it can harm an unborn fetus. Your healthcare provider will perform a pregnancy test prior to initiating treatment with this medication. Discuss effective birth control methods with your doctor and use them for at least two weeks after the final dose. While undergoing treatment, avoid breastfeeding, as it is unclear whether this drug is excreted in breast milk.
