Mistaurin 25mg capsule contains midostaurin as its active ingredient. This anti-cancer medication falls under the category of tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It is used in conjunction with other chemotherapy drugs to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults who have a mutation in the FLT3 gene. Acute myeloid leukemia is a type of cancer that originates in specific white blood cells known as myeloid cells, leading to an abnormal overproduction of these cells. Additionally, this medication is prescribed for adults with aggressive systemic mastocytosis (ASM), systemic mastocytosis with associated hematological neoplasm (SM-AHN), or mast cell leukemia (MCL).
Do not use Mistaurin 25mg capsule if you have an allergy to midostaurin or any of its components. Notify your healthcare provider if you experience any signs of infection, heart issues, lung complications, or breathing difficulties. Should you encounter symptoms such as fever, sore throat, mouth sores, cough (with or without mucus), chest pain, trouble breathing, or swelling in any body parts after taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately.
This medication is not advised for children and adolescents under 18 years old. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant before starting treatment. Mistaurin 25mg capsule may impact fertility in both men and women; consult your doctor regarding this before beginning therapy. The most frequently reported side effects of this medication include fever with decreased blood cell counts, nausea, vomiting, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, elevated blood glucose levels, and respiratory tract infections.
