Emtricitabine is categorized as a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), while Tenofovir Alafenamide belongs to the nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NtRTI) class. This medication is prescribed in combination with other drugs to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) infection in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older, who weigh at least 35 kg. Its mechanism of action involves slowing down the spread of HIV within the body.
Do not use Tenvir EM tablet if you have a known allergy to Emtricitabine, Tenofovir Alafenamide, or any of its other components. It is crucial to undergo regular testing for HIV infection while on this medicine. Never miss any doses or discontinue taking it, as missing doses can heighten your risk of HIV infection. It’s important to note that this medicine does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Inform your physician if you have or suffer from liver problems, including hepatitis, kidney problems, or bone issues. This medication is not suitable for children aged 11 years or younger.
