Tofajak 5mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Tofacitinib, a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) from the class of immunomodulators. It is used to manage several autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. In adults, it is prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis when there is inadequate response or intolerance to previous treatments. It is also used in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis, a condition marked by joint pain and skin scaling, and ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by ulcers and inflammation in the colon.
Additionally, Tofajak 5mg is indicated for ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic inflammatory condition that primarily affects the spine, and active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children aged 2 years and older, which causes joint inflammation and stiffness. The medication works by reducing the activity of the immune system, thereby controlling inflammation and disease progression.
Before beginning treatment with Tofajak, it is essential to inform your physician of any pre-existing conditions such as active or past tuberculosis, blood infections, liver disease, or hepatitis B, as this medication may reactivate dormant infections. Also, notify your doctor if you have a history of kidney, heart, or lung problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or if you are currently or were previously a smoker.
Do not use Tofajak 5mg Tablet if you are allergic to Tofacitinib or any of its components. Inform your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms of an infection during treatment, such as fever, chills, night sweats, persistent cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, unexplained weight loss, or abdominal pain. Regular monitoring and appropriate medical supervision are necessary to ensure safe and effective use of this medication.
