VORITROL 200

Voritrol 200mg tablet is an antifungal medication containing the active ingredient Voriconazole. It falls under the category of drugs known as fungal ergosterol synthesis inhibitors. This medicine is primarily prescribed for the treatment of serious and potentially life-threatening fungal infections. It is also used as a preventive measure in individuals at high risk of fungal infections, such as those who have undergone bone marrow transplants. Voritrol 200mg is not recommended for use in children below two years of age due to limited safety and efficacy data.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Voriconazole or any of its components. Additionally, you should inform your doctor if you have previously experienced allergic reactions to other azole antifungals. It is important to discuss your medical history, particularly if you have liver problems, cardiomyopathy, abnormal heart rhythms, or an ECG irregularity known as ‘long QTc syndrome.’

Exposure to direct sunlight or artificial UV rays should be strictly avoided during the course of treatment, as Voriconazole may increase sensitivity to sunlight and heighten the risk of sunburn or skin reactions. Always wear protective clothing and apply a high-SPF sunscreen when outdoors. These precautions are especially important for children receiving this treatment.

Common side effects may include fever, rash, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, swelling in the limbs, stomach discomfort, and difficulty in breathing. You should seek medical advice immediately if you notice symptoms such as sunburn, severe rashes or blisters, bone pain, fatigue, muscle weakness, appetite or weight loss, abdominal discomfort, or signs indicative of adrenal or hormonal disturbances such as Cushing’s syndrome.

Also, inform your healthcare provider if you have a known intolerance to certain sugars, such as lactose, as Voritrol 200mg tablet contains lactose as one of its inactive ingredients.
