Rolimus 5mg tablet is an antineoplastic medication classified as an mTOR kinase inhibitor, containing everolimus as its active ingredient. It is indicated for the treatment of advanced breast cancer, renal cell carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (tumors located in the brain’s ventricles). Maintaining good oral hygiene and attending regular dental check-ups is crucial during treatment, as this medication may lead to mouth sores or ulcers. It is frequently used in conjunction with cyclophosphamide, an alkylating agent, for the treatment of subependymal giant cell astrocytoma.
Before starting this medication, it is essential to understand that your risk of bacterial or viral infections may increase. If you have a history of Hepatitis B, the Rolimus 5mg tablet may heighten the risk of reinfection. Inform your healthcare provider if you notice symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, yellowing of the skin, joint pain, or swelling while undergoing this treatment. It is important to limit your exposure to sunlight and UV light by wearing protective clothing and frequently applying sunscreen, as this medication may elevate the risk of developing cancers. Additionally, avoid consuming grapefruit juice or grapefruit while on this medication.
This tablet is not advised for use in adolescents and children under 18 years of age. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or a worsening cough. During treatment with Rolimus 5mg tablet, your doctor may regularly check your white blood cell counts, platelets, blood sugar, electrolytes, and kidney function to avert serious complications. This medication has the potential to cause kidney issues. Notify your doctor if you have been diagnosed with liver disorders, heart failure, high cholesterol, or hypertension prior to commencing this treatment. It is also advisable to avoid live vaccines and close contact with individuals who have received live vaccines.
