Xtrant Capsule is an antineoplastic medication utilized in the management of prostate cancer. It is specifically indicated for men with metastatic or progressive prostate cancer, a condition characterized by the inability to cure the cancer. Prostate cancer arises when there is an abnormal increase in the number of cells in the prostate gland. Symptoms may include difficulties with urination, pain, numbness, and more.
Xtrant Capsule contains Estramustine, which is classified as an antimicrotubule agent. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the replication of DNA (the genetic material) within cancer cells, thereby halting their growth and reproduction.
Potential side effects of Xtrant Capsule may include nausea, dizziness, heartburn, headaches, diarrhea, muscle weakness, joint pain, hot flashes, vomiting, increased thirst, flatulence, edema, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Typically, these side effects resolve without requiring medical intervention. However, if they persist or worsen, it is important to consult your physician. This medication should be taken as prescribed by your doctor, ideally on an empty stomach at least two hours before or after meals. Your physician will determine the appropriate dosage based on the severity of your condition.
Xtrant Capsule should be avoided if you have a known allergy to estradiol, nitrogen mustard, or any of its components. It is essential to inform your doctor about any medications you are currently taking to prevent potential interactions. Additionally, disclose any history of liver or kidney disease, hypocalcemia, thrombophlebitis, fluid retention, coronary artery disease, diabetes, gynecomastia, or impotence prior to starting Xtrant Capsule. This medication is not recommended for women and children, as it is intended for male patients. Xtrant Capsule has been associated with thrombosis, both fatal and nonfatal myocardial infarction, glucose intolerance, and elevated blood pressure in some individuals. Therefore, careful monitoring is advised throughout the treatment process.
