Ferium-500 Injection is classified as an anti-anaemic medication used to address iron deficiency anaemia in individuals who cannot tolerate oral iron supplements, have non-dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease, or need a rapid increase in iron levels. Iron deficiency anaemia, characterized by a shortage of red blood cells due to insufficient iron in the body, results in inadequate oxygen transport to various tissues.
This injection contains ‘ferric carboxymaltose’, which serves as an iron source, facilitating oxygen transport throughout the body and aiding in the formation of red blood cells. Consequently, Ferium-500 Injection plays a crucial role in managing anaemia and supports several essential bodily functions.
Administration of Ferium-500 Injection will be performed by a qualified healthcare provider; self-administration is not advised. Some individuals may experience common side effects such as nausea, flushing, dizziness, elevated blood pressure, and reduced phosphorus levels in the blood. Most of these effects are not serious and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if these side effects persist, it is recommended to consult your doctor.
Inform your doctor about any prescription or over-the-counter medications, as well as herbal products you are taking prior to starting Ferium-500 Injection. If you have a known allergy to any ingredients in Ferium-500 Injection, please notify your healthcare provider. It is advisable to consult a doctor before using Ferium-500 Injection if you are pregnant or nursing. This injection is not recommended for children under 14 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been established.
