Immutil S 180mg tablet is an immunosuppressant that contains Mycophenolate sodium as its active ingredient. It falls under the category of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitors. This medication is utilized to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone an organ transplant, such as kidney, heart, or liver transplants. It is typically prescribed as part of a combination therapy alongside other immunosuppressive agents.

Due to the potential for birth defects and miscarriage, this drug is contraindicated during pregnancy. It should only be recommended to pregnant women if there are no suitable alternatives and the benefits significantly outweigh the risks. Female patients of childbearing age are strongly encouraged to use effective contraception while taking this tablet to avoid pregnancy.

While on Immutil S 180mg tablet, live vaccines should not be administered because of the decreased effectiveness of the vaccine and the heightened risk of infection. Patients using this medication should refrain from donating blood during treatment and for at least six weeks after discontinuation to ensure that the drug has been sufficiently eliminated from their system before blood donation.

It is generally recommended to avoid this medication if you have an allergy to it or any of its components. Notify your healthcare provider if you have a history of liver or heart disease prior to starting treatment. Since this drug suppresses the immune system, it may elevate the risk of skin cancer. Patients should take measures to minimize their exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light.

If you experience any bruising under the skin, fever, unexplained fatigue, dizziness, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), vision problems, decreased urine output, or seizures after taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately. Immutil S 180mg tablet is an immunosuppressive drug that may impact the developing immune system of an infant and should be avoided during breastfeeding.
