Zoleget 4mg contains Zoledronic Acid as its active ingredient. This medication is classified under bisphosphonates. It is prescribed to lower elevated calcium levels in the blood of adult patients caused by tumors. Tumors can disrupt normal bone metabolism, leading to increased calcium release from bones. This condition is referred to as tumor-induced hypercalcemia (TIH). Additionally, it is utilized to prevent bone complications in adult patients suffering from multiple myeloma and bone metastases originating from solid tumors, alongside standard cancer treatments.

Zoleget 4mg is also indicated for the prevention or treatment of osteoporosis, a condition characterized by fragile and weak bones that are prone to fractures, in postmenopausal women. Furthermore, it is effective in treating osteoporosis in men. The medication is also used for managing Paget’s disease of bone, which results in soft, weak bones that may become deformed, painful, or easily fractured. Other applications include the treatment or prevention of osteoporosis in both men and women who are on glucocorticoids, a type of corticosteroid medication that can lead to osteoporosis.

This injection should not be administered if you have an allergy to zoledronic acid, any other bisphosphonate, or any components of this medication, and it is contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Prior to starting treatment, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider if you have any kidney or liver issues, bone disorders, pain, swelling, or numbness in the jaw. This medication is not suitable for adolescents and children under 18 years of age. Zoleget 4mg is not a cancer chemotherapy drug and will not impede or halt cancer progression.
